- Addressing Cultural Barriers in Deploying Linux on VM
While Linux on z/VM is gaining momentum in enterprise
data centers, there are still significant barriers to
adoption preventing many companies from taking the plunge.
The most significant of these barriers results from
potential cultural conflict between the various teams --
typically distributed systems, mainframe, and networking -
within the IT organization who are involved on the actual
implementation.
In order to successfully deploy Linux on z/VM, these
potential hazards must be confronted headon from the start
This session will reflect on real user experiences from
enterprise companies who have faced these challenges,
and will also offer different solutions on how to minimize
the threats to Linux on z/VM deployment.

This session will describe the latest advances in zSeries virtualization technology in detail. |

- Open Source and the Mainframe in the Data Center
Open source technology appears to be revolutionizing
many aspects of customer IT deployments. The use of
open source solutions on the mainframe at first may
seem strange or odd. When customer business motivations
are understood, and the strengths and weaknesses of
the technologies are considered, the meshing of these
technologies into viable solutions can make sense.
These perspectives are presented and discusses,
providing guidance to, if, and how to use open source
on the mainframe in the data center.
