Art Olbert worked at IBM for over thirty years, where he held a
number of key positions in executive management, product development and
management, business development, and channel strategy. While at IBM, Olbert was a key contributor to the success of IBM's VM
system, a product critically important to IBM's strategic enterprise Linux
direction. He worked as a developer on VM and later as the first executive of a
combined VM system. Olbert also had executive
responsibilities for PC and LAN software, as well as UNIX infrastructure
software. Olbert most recently was the VP, Alliance
Strategy for IBM's Software Group where he defined strategic alliances to grow
revenue and market presence through partnering with product and channel
partners.
Recently,
Olbert has been an active mentor and advisor to
enterprise companies and high technology start-ups including Tivoli, QuickFlex, Precision Traffic Systems, Intelligent Silicon,
and Tower-J. Olbert has also been a member of
Austin's The Capital Network, Jump Start Revenue, and the Texas Edge mentoring
organization. Olbert holds a BS in Math and History
from Hunter College of City College of New York.
