9:45 AM | Jim Newell - IBM - Managing z/VM & Linux Performance with OMEGAMON XE
With the growth of z/VM and Linux on System z, many system administrators are looking for System Management solutions on z/VM and Linux for System z. They expect solutions on z/VM and Linux for System z to have similar Systems Management capabilities to what they have in the z/OS environment. While similar in nature, these tools must assist in managing the unique challenges of virtual servers compared to servers on dedicated hardware. This presentation will focus on how OMEGAMON XE on z/VM and Linux monitors the unique challenges of Linux on System z as well as z/VM. Additionally, scenarios showing the benefits of integration with other IBM management software for z/VM will be introduced.

11:00 AM | Bill Bitner - IBM - z/VM Memory Management: Three Views
This session will provide some background on z/VM memory management from three views. The first view will be the limits associated with z/VM memory support. There are theoretical limits and practical limits. We'll discuss how to tell the difference. The second view will be what's changing in z/VM memory management. We'll look at what's new in this space. The final view will be walking through a case study that illustrates aspects of how we look at memory management in z/VM.

2:15 PM | Alan Altmark - IBM - Security Zones on z/VM
In multi-tier network applications, there is usually the concept of "demilitarized zones", or DMZs, that each contain a set of servers. Each DMZ is separated from others by firewalls and by access policies to ensure that there is no unwanted user access or flow of data. Learn in this presentation how to properly build virtual DMZs and to integrate virtual servers into your existing DMZs. We will also discuss using the RACF Security Server on z/VM to prevent a "red zone" server from connecting to a "green zone" network or "green zone" data...

3:30 PM | Alan Altmark - IBM - z/VM Platform Update "Introducing zVM 6.1"
This presentation will highlight the new functions available with z/VM V6.1, IBM's newest version of advanced server virtualization support for IBM System z. Building on the functionally rich base of z/VM Version 5.4, z/VM V6.1, previewed on July 7, 2009, further enhances the economic attractiveness of consolidating workloads on the mainframe. Find out how z/VM V6.1 on IBM System z10 advances the art of enterprise virtualization. The speaker will also provide an overview of future z/VM support ("statements of direction") included in the z/VM V6.1 preview announcement.
