In today's world of composite applications understanding how these
applications and their underlying infrastructures whether physical
or virtualized are configured and interconnected is critical to
keeping them alive and well. In order to do this, IT needs discover
and visualize the complex chain of dependencies involved in business
applications, isolate problems to root causes and in this way
maximize overall application availability and performance.

Manager, which provides hardware and platform management for all
components of the system. This includes operational controls and
management of hypervisors, virtual server lifecycles, networks,
storage, performance, and energy. By leveraging virtualization,
Unified Resource Manager encapsulates virtual server management,
administration, and operation into a coherent set of functions that
operate across the multiple architectures of zEnterprise.

The new IBM zEnterprise is the first system of systems. It is a hybrid system made up of a new mainframe component and a zEnterprise BladeCenter Extension. The zBX introduces new opportunities for solution design, deployment. It also opens up the opportunity for new application and solution designs. This session will provide an overview of the zBX and the potential impacts to solution design and deployment. |
