Today We have 2 IBM Speakers from Endicott,
Dave Kreuter from VM Resources in Canada,
Barton Robinson from Velocity Software, and
             Rob Amos from Computer Associates.

9:15 AM Measuring and Tuning Linux for S/390 Servers
               Barton Robinson - Velocity Software

Performance data now exists that allows you to manage
your Linux server performance. Using this data also
helps you plan platform changes such as moving workloads
from an Intel platform to an S/390 platform.

Managing Linux performance on an S/390 under z/VM with
shared memory, shared processor and even shared DASD
provides a different set of challenges as compared to
managing performance for dedicated Intel servers.

NETSNMP is a result of an open source project to build
a performance and capacity planning data source,
and has been ported to Linux on S/390.
This provides a common data source across many platforms
for performance and capacity planning analysis.

This presentation will look at some Linux performance
issues and some technology used to analyze and manage
Linux performance - either for dedicated servers or
             under VM.

   10:15 AM Break

   10:30 AM VM/LinMan 1.1.0
               David Kreuter - VM Resources

David Kreuter of VM RESOURCES LTD. will be presenting
an update on his software product, VM/LinMan.
VM/LinMan 1.1.0 (Available October) includes new
features for browser based administration, along with
1.0.0 features of automatic task management including
tasks for creation, deletion, activation, deactivate
of Linux virtual machines. David will show the
VM architecture of the product along with a demo
             (live or canned).

   11:30 AM LUNCH break

1:00 PM CA, VM, Linux, and You
               Robert Amos - Computer Associates

This session will describe Computer Associates current VM
product strategies, whats available in the new releases
of the products, and information about the enhancements
in these releases. Additionally, CA's Mainframe Linux
             initiatives will be discussed.

1:45 PM Using HiDRO in a VM:Backup Environment
               Robert Amos - Computer Associates

This session will discuss the 'hows and whys' you
should incorporate the HiDRO backup and recovery
product (formerly Syback) into your existing
CA-VM:Backup system. The benefits of using both,
in tandem, products will be discussed as well as
those things you should be aware of as you
             implement HiDRO.

    2:30 PM Break

2:45 PM z/VM System Administration Facility
               Chris Casey - IBM

This presentation discusses the ease-of-use functions
provided by the z/VM System Administration
Facility for z/VM Version 4 Release 2.0 for managing
Linux images in a z/VM environment. It covers
who is the intended audience, tools to migrate an
existing Virtual Image Facility (VIF) system to z/VM,
tools to initialize and administer the VMADMIN
environment, and what aspects of the support may be
             of particular interest to vendors.

    3:45 PM Break

4:00 PM Sharing Data Between Linux and VM
               Will Roden - IBM

When SSL was developed on Linux on VM, some interesting
techniques were created. This discussion will describe
             some of them including:

                - Moving data from VM to Linux on the same signon
                - Moving data using different signons
                - Developing Linux applications on VM
                - Tracing Techniques

This will give you a better understanding of how to
develop a Linux application on VM.

5:00 PM Questions and Answers on any and all subjects.

5:30 PM thank you very much.
