Fred has been with Information Builders for over 9 years and worked with VM since 1982. He has spoken at SHARE, MVMUA, and the VM Workshop. 10:15 AM Break 10:30 AM IBM's VM Dump Tool The speaker is Tom DeForest from CP Development in the VM organization of IBM in Endicott NY. With VM Ver 3, Rel 1.0 and changes to support 64-bit architecture, the VM Dump Tool was introduced as the replacement for DVF for reading CP abend and stand-alone dumps. The VM Dump Tool has nearly all the features that DVF had, updated for 64-bits, with a number of powerful new commands and macros to ferret out and format new information from a dump. This session will provide an introduction to the VM Dump Tool with information about its history, features, a simple case study of a PRG005 dump, a number of examples on BLOCK and TRACE, and a look at a simple example macro. He has worked in VM for the bulk of his 30+ year career. For the last 10 years, his focus has been on debugging problems in CP, reading dumps, and dump reading tools. 11:30 noon LUNCH break 1:00 PM TCP/IP Update Alan Altmark, IBM, invites you to come and learn about the latest enhancements for VM TCP/IP. Important functions have been delivered in both the service stream and in new releases. Alan will give you the details you need. Alan is a regular speaker at VM Technical Conferences and is currently an IBM representative to SHARE. 2:00 PM Break 2:15 PM TCP/IP Routing - part 1 Alan Altmark, IBM, will provide detailed information on TCP/IP routing and how to configure and use TCP/IP's static and dynamic routing functions. The mysteries of coding the Gateway and BsdRoutingParms statements for VM TCP/IP are revealed. Virtual IP Addressing (VIPA) will also be discussed. While the synax may be VM, the concepts apply to all operating systems, including VSE, z/OS, and Linux. 3:15 PM Break 3:30 PM TCP/IP Routing - part 2 Alan Altmark Senior Software Engineer z/VM, TCP/IP, VIF, and Linux for zSeries Development, Endicott, NY Phone 607.752.6027 fax 607.752.1497 4:30 PM Questions, Discussion 5:00 PM thank you very much.
