z/VM CPU Pools were introduced in z/VM 6.3 via an SPE that became available in June, 2014. Then in August, support was released for the IBM License Metric Tool to recognize CPU Pools as containers that can be used to provide software sub-capacity pricing boundaries. This presentation will describe both of these technologies and explore potential customer use cases and the benefits they can provide.
