This is the 156th meeting of MVMUA, and our 40th anniversary! In honor of the occasion we're planning to celebrate our history with VM and the future of z/VM and MVMUA.

We hope to have some long-time friends of VM and MVMUA attend. There will be talks about z/VM technologies, some fun stories, and maybe some future opportunities.

Breakfast and Lunch will be provided by VICOM Infinity, I heard a rumor of CAKE. MVMUA will also be providing special gifts to attendees. It is essential that you RSVP so we can reserve space (seating will be limited) and make arrangements for any special requirements. My journey through operations, systems programming, training and Linux will be discussed showing VM's adaptability and flexibility in providing end user solutions. 1:00 PM	Phill Smith III - Voltage Security - The Payments Ecosystem: Security Challenges in the 21st Century Credit and debit cards-whether they use magnetic stripes, EMV (chip cards), or near-field communication-are an established feature of world commerce, and we all know that they are built on embedded devices, various networks, and high-performance back-end computer systems. But how does this ecosystem really work? What are its vulnerabilities and security gaps, and how can we defend them? As story after story in the press has demonstrated, simply keeping your physical card secure is no longer sufficient and neither is protecting the IT perimeters of card processing systems. Millions of card numbers have been breached at all layers of the system, despite companies best efforts to secure at a system level. The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) lays down excellent guidelines to help secure data, but many breaches have occurred despite passing PCI DSS compliance assessments. Come learn about how the threat landscape is evolving, what the attackers are doing, and how merchants and processors are reacting to stay ahead of the attackers. This session will take a closer look at the implementation of the new Storage Management algorithms, basic flows, data structures and the knobs you can twist and set. It will help you understand which workloads may benefit the most from this enhancement and how to plan for large memory in z/VM 6.3.
